چکیده

Objective: The clinical signs and symptoms of brain edema resulting from diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) may not always be ob vious. When the intracranial pressure increases, optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) simultaneously increases can imaged with ultrasonography. We aimed to discuss determinative features ONSD measurements in (BE) DKA. Materials Methods: Patients who were classified as having mild, moderate severe DKA included study. Transorbital ultrasonography was performed during first two hours treatment while patients remained supine neutral position their eyes closed. diameters, which appeared a hypoechoic double-edged line 3 mm deep globe, measured. same repeated outpatient clinic controls. values metabolic, neurological conditions compared. Results: Eight mean age 8.8±3 (Standard Deviation (SD)) years Seven them presented Two suffering headaches found have mild BE according computerized tomography (CT). 5.7±0.93 (mean±SD) moderate-severe 4 single patient ONSDs on CT 6.8 5.9 mm. five 4.4±0.32 checks. Ultrasound measurement of optic nerve diameter and optic nerve sheath diameter in healthy Chinese adults

BACKGROUND Measurement of optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) is a fast and non-invasive method in detecting elevated intracranial pressure. However, the reported normal range of ONSD was inconsistent. The objective of the study was to determine the normal range of ONSD in healthy Chinese adults. METHODS Eyeball transverse diameter (ETD), optic nerve diameter (OND), and ONSD were measured by u...

Coronal Axis Measurement of the Optic Nerve Sheath Diameter.

OBJECTIVES The true optic nerve sheath diameter cutoff value for detecting elevated intracranial pressure is variable. The variability may stem from the technique used to acquire sonographic measurements of the optic nerve sheath diameter as well as sonographic artifacts inherent to the technique. The purpose of this study was to compare the traditional visual axis technique to an infraorbital ...

Ultrasonographic optic nerve sheath diameter measurement in overweight parturient with intracranial tumour: Guiding choice of anaesthesia

A 26‐year‐old 36‐week primigravida with body mass index of 28.33 with intracranial space occupying lesion was planned for elective caesarean section. The patient was having frontal headache for past 1 month with left eye ptosis for last 3 weeks. Headache was associated with vomiting. There was no history of seizures. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) obtained 3 weeks before showed large lobulate...

Association between optic nerve sheath diameter and mortality in patients with severe traumatic brain injury.

PURPOSE Increased intracranial pressure (ICP) is associated with worse outcomes following traumatic brain injury (TBI). Studies have confirmed that ICP is correlated with optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) on ultrasound. The aim of our study was to assess the independent relationship between ONSD measured using CT and mortality in a population of patients admitted with severe TBI. METHODS We ...
